Sale Croquet Club open day tomorrow

Sale Croquet Club will host a come and try day tomorrow (Saturday October 12) as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival.

The club will introduce visitors to the popular golf-croquet version of the game between 10am and 3.30pm.

Club president Colin Coomber said while the open day was part of the seniors festival, croquet was a game for all ages and so the club would welcome everyone to try out the sport.

Newcomers will be partnered with experienced players who would guide them through games, explaining the rules and tactics.

Coomber said people should allow themselves a couple of hours so they could have a couple of games. A free sausage sizzle will also being held at lunchtime.

The croquet club is located at the south end of Guthridge Parade between the botanic gardens and Stephenson Park.

Coomber said if the date of the open day did not suit, visitors were welcome to attend normal social croquet which was held on Thursday and Saturday afternoons. They should arrive about 12.50pm for a 1pm start.
