SIXTEEN-year-old Bryce Leek, has cemented himself as a star of the future in adult aged Speedway.
Leek secured back-to-back Junior 1200cc Sedan state titles and back-to-back Junior Sedan titles at Bairnsdale Speedway at the weekend.
This adds to his recent Junior Standard Saloon title also secured at Bairnsdale.
In Sprintcars, Dennis Jones from Morwell (if he had not already done so), secured legend status in Victorian Speedway Council Sprintcars, as he went on to win the fifth title in the category.
Along with the terrific state title action in the 1200cc Juniors and Sprintcars, Beau Stuchbery won his first open aged Standard Saloon feature event, Tannah Lee won his first Junior Standard Saloon final, and Rosedale’s Bree Walker continued her dominance in Ladies Standard Saloon racing.
Walker had a productive meeting in Ladies Standard Saloon class, competing mainly against Elise Halliday, who got away to a terrific start, taking a four second victory in the first heat race of the night finishing in front of Walker and Kate Stuchbery. Walker who has been quick this season in just her real first season of open aged racing, claimed a win in front of Simone Taylor and Stuchbery in the second heat race.
The three drivers went at it again in the third heat race, with the result exactly the same as Walker, Taylor and Stuchbery finished first to third.
Walker led every lap in the final and Halliday inserted herself back into the battle.
Walker didn’t have it all her own way, with Halliday close behind. Walker went on to win once more at Bairnsdale, with Halliday, Taylor, Stuchbery and Breanna Lee.
The Rosedale racer set a new track record for Bairnsdale over six laps, clocking 2:26.420.
In the Victorian Speedway Council Sprintcar title action, Adam Greenwood from Maffra stormed to the front quickly in the first heat of the Victorian title and went on to secure victory ahead of Dennis Jones and Alistair Bastian from Ellaswood.
Jones then led every lap of the second heat race to defeat defending champion Nigel Laity of Wiseleigh and Koby Noonan.
Bacchus Marsh racer and former state champion Steven Horton defeated popular local Dillon Siely in Heat 3, with Greenwood finishing third. Alistair Bastian led all the way in the final heat to secure victory in front of Travis Millar and Noonan.
Bairnsdale Speedway returns to action on March 30.
