Fortuna took out the Latrobe Valley Soccer League championship with a 5-1 victory over Falcons on Sunday.

In front of a huge crowd at Falcons’ synthetic pitch, the Orange Lions overcame some nervous moments when the score was 2-1 to eventually open the floodgates.

It was Fortuna’s first league championship since 2011.

Falcons only needed a draw to claim the title, while the Lions had no option but to win.

There was double delight for Fortuna, with their reserves winning 3-1 and also taking out the championship, making it back-to-back titles.

The rest of Round 22 saw Pegasus, as expected, do a number on Tyers 9-0.

Olympians scored their biggest-ever win over Churchill in a 7-1 rout.

Moe ended the year in third after beating Newborough/Yallourn 5-2.

Sale had the bye, as did Monash.

The Swans now turn their attention to the Battle of Britain Cup.

Sale has the first week of the cup game off and will play next Saturday (September 16) at home.

Moe is the defending title holder.
