WINNING ways have continued for the Sale-Maffra Badminton Association.
The local club competed in the Latrobe Valley Veterans Teams Championship last weekend, with the “Roulettes” emerging as victors in Section C2.
Playing against three other teams, the Roulettes were comprehensive winners in every round. They won 19 of their 24 doubles games in their match-up with Latrobe Valley Solar, and dropped just four games by the narrowest of margins against CBA Sandies.
Their encounter with Camperdown Kids was much tougher, with 13 of 24 games going the Roulettes’ way.
Players on the victorious team were David Lord, Greg French, John Burley, Darren Lunn, Doug Rogerson, Kelly Nikolajew, Pam Swarbick, Amanda Smith and Junalyn Rachac.
Held on May 21 and 22, the Championship took place in the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium, Traralgon, and saw approximately 300 participants from 14 Victorian clubs compete across nine grades of competition.
Sale-Maffra submitted two teams in the competition, the other being the “Bombers” who participated in Section B3.
The next Veterans tournament will be held on June 17 and 18 in Swan Hill.
