Seaspray Nippers have been having fun this summer, learning about water safety and gaining confidence in the surf.

Federal Member for Gippsland, Darren Chester, has helped with a lesson about sun protection by generously donating white broad-brimmed hats for the club’s 130 young members.

Nippers is an inclusive beach education program for children aged between five and 14 that introduces participants to surf life saving.

It caters for all levels of experience and ability with a focus on fun, getting involved and safety.

Seaspray is one of 57 clubs to successfully run the Nippers program for more than 10,000 participants across Victoria.

The Nippers season at Seaspray winds up at the end of January, just before the young participants return to learning in a classroom.
