EIGHTY-FOUR players in 14 teams took to Polocrosse Park in Fulham to take part in the Sale Polocrosse Club Tournament at the weekend.

The event was rescheduled after being postponed because of the five-day lockdown last month.

Sale won A grade, defeating Trafalgar in the final. The host club won the grade’s two individual awards – Harry Semmens was named the best player and Luke Lossberg’s Tyson the best horse.

B grade was taken out by Corio ahead of Sale.

Corio captain Tristan Cooper was named best player, and his horse Peggy Sue the best horse.

Trafalgar won C and D grade, defeating Goulburn Valley and Sale respectively. Trafalgar’s Katie Martin was the best player in C grade, with the best horse award going to teammate Gill Massey’s Brom.

The best player in D grade was Trafalgar’s Leigh Carroll, and the best horse was Hannah Wilms’ Roseridge Giftbox of Sale.

Some of the most talented young polocrosse players took part in two twilight matches on Saturday.

In the under 16s Allan Semmens Memorial Match, the female best player was Hannah Wilms, with Dane Beckman the best male and Jake Jolly receiving the President’s Award.

In the under 21 Sale Polocrosse Challenge, the best female player was Holly Wittig, and the best male was Tristan Cooper. The President’s Award went to Ryan Dyke.
