Yarram robbers remain at large – Police Beat July 19 2024

Yarram robbery offenders still not found

YARRAM residents were shocked at the armed robbery that occurred last week at Yarram Plaza Hot Bread, but as of Wednesday, the alleged perpetrators have yet to be reprimanded or identified.

Wellington Crime Investigation Unit detectives said they are investigating “an armed robbery at a shopping complex in Yarram last week”.

Officers understand an unknown male and female entered the complex on James Street between 3.50am and 4.15am on Friday, July 12.

Three staff members were physically restrained by the offenders, who then attempted to force entry into an ATM.

After their unsuccessful attempts at breaking into the ATM, the man and woman forced open a cash register at a business inside the complex, however there was no money inside.

Police said they understood the offenders ran away empty handed, but the bakery said they stole two pies.

Detectives have been told both offenders were armed with firearms during the incident, and luckily the three staff members were not injured.

Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who might know anything about the identity of the man and woman.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit crimestoppersvic.com.au

Lock it or lose it

WELLINGTON Police Service Area said they have recently seen an increase in both thefts from cars, as well as cars themselves being stolen.

Many thieves are opportunistic and will generally go with the easiest option, so don’t make things easy for them by leaving your cars, garages, house doors and windows unlocked.

Never leave your valuables in sight in a vehicle and do not keep your car or house keys by the front door which could be easy access for an offender.

Ensure that your cars are locked at all times – even if they are parked in a driveway or a garage.
