Heyfield impound

ON Friday, November 17 around 6pm, Heyfield Police intercepted a green Holden Commodore that was travelling east on Mills Street, Heyfield.

Police say the driver, a 36-year-old man from Coongulla, was found to be unlicensed.

The vehicle was impounded for a period of 28 days at a cost of $950. The driver will be summonsed to appear at the Sale Magistrates Court at a later date for traffic-related offences.

Five arrested following Moe shooting

ARMED Crime squad detectives are investigating a shooting in Moe last week (Monday, November 20).

Officers have been told a man sustained a gunshot wound during an altercation between two groups of men at a Hawker Street address at around 8.15pm.

It was reported in the media that a 28-year-old man was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Five men have been arrested and are assisting investigators with their enquiries.

A crime scene was set-up while detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

At this early stage of the investigation, Police believe the parties were known to each other.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with CCTV/dashcam footage or with information, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Moe man arrested

A MOE man has been arrested and charged after allegedly attempting to fire a gun at two people in Yarragon last month, with the firearm found by Police.

Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident, which came about following multiple collisions and a civilian foot chase in Yarragon on Thursday, November 16.

It’s alleged the man charged was driving a stolen Nissan Tiida, which collided with two cars on the Princes Freeway about 4.15pm.

The car lost a wheel during the collisions before the man dumped it in Acacia Court.

The man fled the scene on foot until he was confronted by two civilians.

Police will allege the man attempted to discharge a firearm at the pair, however the gun failed to fire.

The witnesses continued to follow the man and alerted Police to his location.

A 36-year-old Moe man was arrested near the Princes Highway and the firearm was recovered by Police nearby.

He was charged and remanded to appear before Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court.

SATURDAY, November 18 was McHappy Day across Australia.

McHappy Day is a day dedicated to raising money to assist the Ronald McDonald House Charities who provide support for families of seriously ill and injured children.

Wellington Proactive Unit, Leading Senior Constable, Kim Kell attended to help out for a few hours, thanking the Sale community for getting behind a worthy cause.

Constable Kell and Wellington Police were also participants in the Sale Christmas Parade at the weekend.
