Sale man charged following Yinnar burglary and persuit
A 35-year-old Sale man will face 64 charges following an alleged burglary and pursuit in Yinnar last Friday.
The man has been charged with multiple counts of car theft, petrol drive-offs, reckless conduct endangering life, dangerous driving while being pursued and commiting indictable offence while on bail.
Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit detectives also charged two people, a 37-year-old Morwell man and a 19-year-old Drouin woman, with theft of a motor vehicle.
The charges follow an alleged burglary at a residential premises on Creamery Road, where two people were arrested at the scene about 11.10am on July 7.
It is alleged a third man fled on foot, before confronting a couple and stealing their red Toyota Corolla. The victims were not injured.
The Corolla was allegedly involved in a collision with a police vehicle on Creamery Road before driving away, with police in pursuit.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed on Creamery Road, but the vehicle continued on its rims towards Boolarra.
The driver lost control and crashed into a ditch on Fishers Road and the occupants were arrested at the scene.
The 35-year-old Sale man was remanded in custody to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on July 31.
The 37-year-old Morwell man was remanded in custody to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on July 25.
The 19-year-old Drouin woman appeared at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Monday July 10.
Unregistered vehicle in Heyfield impounded
On Sunday July 9, Heyfield Police intercepted an unlicensed male driving an unregistered, unroadworthy motor vehicle in Heyfield. Police impounded the vehicle for a period of 30 days, after which the driver will be required to pay costs of $1133 to retrieve the impounded vehicle. The driver will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date.
