1927 at The Wedge

AUSSIE rock band 1927 are currently on the road with a mammoth national tour, criss-crossing Australia as they bring their Next Generation ’23 tour to fans and music lovers.

1927 emerged during the golden era of Australian rock, becoming an overnight sensation with the release of their debut album …ish in 1988.

That record went five-times platinum, stayed in the ARIA chart for 46 weeks (selling in excess of 400,000 copies) and won ARIA Awards for best debut single and album.

It also spawned the hit singles ‘If I Could’, ‘You’ll Never Know’, ‘Compulsory Hero’, ‘To Love Me’ and ‘That’s When I Think of You’, the latter finding its way onto the UK and US charts.

With all of those songs becoming staples of FM radio, 1927 have stood the test of time and earned their place as icons of the Australian music scene.

“Whatever you think you’re going to see and hear is not what you’re going to see and hear,” 1927 frontman Erik Weiderman says of the tour.

“If you have not seen this version of 1927 perform these songs live, well, I won’t say you’re in for a shock, you’re in for a treat.”

Appearing with 1927 as part of the tour is Jason Singh, who has toured the world for more than two decades as a singer, songwriter and original founding member of the ARIA Award-winning pop-rock chart toppers Taxiride.

Having previously played a sold-out show at the Bundy Hall back in March, 1927 will be returning to the Wellington Shire for a performance at The Wedge on June 3.
