C4G says infrastructure, investment are priorities

GROWING investment, advocating for key infrastructure projects, promoting the region’s desirability as a place to live with opportunities while continuing to grow Gippsland’s leadership are all strategic priorities set out in the Committee for Gippsland’s 2021-2024 Strategic Plan launched in Traralgon last Friday.

Committee for Gippsland chairman Alex Aeschlimann launched the plan, and said it was an important document outlining the organisation’s priorities and opportunities for Gippsland during the next three years.

“The past 18 months has seen significant policy changes, droughts and bushfires and a global pandemic create major disruption for businesses and community, and our strategic plan will play an important role in advocating for our region’s future,” he said.

“What we do next, is important not only for the long-term health and wellbeing of our communities and economy in Gippsland, but also more broadly for Victoria.

“As the peak industry body for Gippsland, our aim is to create a thriving and sustainable future for Gippslanders by helping to attract investment and jobs, while continuing to be the region’s lead advocate for a positive and sustainable future for Gippsland.”

The launch was attended by state Treasurer Tim Pallas, with whom the committee discussed key priorities.

“The future is bright in Gippsland, and the Victorian government looks forward to working with the Committee for Gippsland to support jobs and investment growth across the region as we bounce back from the economic challenges of the coronavirus pandemic,” Mr Pallas said.

The 2021-2024 Strategic Plan is informed by C4G members following the 2020 report ‘Gippsland Future Directions’.

It has a focus on identifying how Gippsland can be a thriving investment environment for growth, and encourage new and emerging opportunities while diversifying the regional economy to secure long-term sustainability.
