WELLINGTON Shire Council’s plans for sleepy Loch Sport to be a major Gippsland Lakes settlement and key boating node for permanent residents and visitors is coming to fruition, with a major retail and accommodation development in the town about to begin, and plans for a new town entrance.
Mayor Alan Hall said the revitalisation on Lake St would bring more people to the “defacto town centre”, and create a modern centrepiece with beautiful lake vistas.
The privately-funded development will include a new supermarket to replace the ageing Foodworks store, several other retail shops and nine boutique apartments.
