SALE Film Society (SFS) has announced a change to its August screening, taking place this Wednesday, August 9.
Roman Holiday will be shown, after its committee was unable to obtain a copy of The Godmother.
Directed by the acclaimed William Wyler (Ben-Hur), Roman Holiday tells of an American reporter (Gregory Peck) who falls in love with a princess (Audrey Hepburn) while on vacation in Italy.
This romantic-comedy was initially released in 1953 to critical acclaim, transforming Audrey Hepburn from an unheard-of British performer to an international superstar.
The film went on to be nominated for 10 Academy Awards, winning three – Best Actress, Best Story and Best Costume Design – Black-and-White.
As always, the screening shall begin at 7.30pm in the Society’s usual venue, The Wedge.
Entry is free for SFS members and $10 for non-members.
The SFS committee encourages all prospective attendees to arrive early, grab a drink from Shirley’s and mingle with their fellow movie buffs.
