A PROBLEM with the lights caused Sale United’s Battle of Britain Cup match against Fortuna on Wednesday night to be abandoned.
The Swans were trailing 1-0 at Morwell before the lights went out.
The Swans’ Steel Youth Cup match against Fortuna was also abandoned.
THE Gippsland Soccer League regular season will resume this weekend following the Queen’s Birthday long weekend with Sale United away to Traralgon City on Sunday.
While the second-placed Swans will be favoured to win, the seventh-placed Roosters have been a hard team to beat, having drawn a league high five of their 10 matches this season.
Also on Sunday, Moe United will host Monash, Fortuna will head to Traralgon to play Olympians, and league leader Churchill United will host bottom side Tyers.
On Saturday night, Falcons will host Pegasus in a Morwell derby.
CHURCHILL United’s lead on top of the ladder has been increased to six points after the Rams’ 5-5 draw with Moe was changed to a 3-0 victory.
The Red Devils had fielded Nick Dastey, who had returned from suspension a week early.
Moe selected Dastey in the side based in information from the GSL, which issued the Red Devils with an incorrect return date, having failed to account for a bye.
Following the round nine draw, the Rams lodged a protest, which was upheld by the league tribunal.
The ruling pushed the third-placed Red Devils gap behind Sale to three points.
