THE SMCA Satupo Women’s T20 clash between Bundalaguah and Collegians went down to the wire on Tuesday night.

In reply to Collegians’ 1-89, the Bulls were 6-88 heading into the final over, which was bowled by College captain Tamara Hall.

The Bulls scored a run to tie the scores, then in the search for the winning run, Abigail Taylor was run-out on the third-last ball. The home side was unable to score on the final two deliveries, finishing 7-89 to give the teams a share of the points.

The Bundalaguah innings began well with openers Maddison Winter and Megen Wrigglesworth retiring not out for 28 and 25 respectively.

After seeing of the pair, Collegians claimed wickets at regular intervals. Jazz Anstee claimed 3-6 from four overs and Beth Goodsell 2-16 from her four.

Earlier in the Collegians innings, Anstee and Mandy Hall retired not out on 25, while Hall contributed 18. The only Collegians wicket came from the bowling of Abigail Taylor.

The tie means Bundalaguah remains on top of the ladder, while Collegians stays in third spot.

ROSEDALE-KILMANY, in second place, defeated Maffra by nine runs at home.

Sent into bat by the visitors, the Warriors scored 4-75 from their 20 overs. Olivia Speairs retired not out on 25 and Zoe Hustwayte was unbeaten on 19, while Maffra captain Kirsty Robinson claimed 2-12 with the ball.

In reply, Maffra made 8-66, with Ainsley Butcher and Kirsty Rurawhe (not out) top-scoring with 14 each. The wickets were shared around by five bowlers, with three run-outs.

LONGFORD opened its season account with victory over Stratford.

The visiting Redbacks made 7-64, with India Dean taking 3-6 from four overs and Indianna Coleman 2-13 for the Lizards.

Longford passed Stratford’s total in the 13th over for the loss of two wickets. Captain Sally Guthrie was unbeaten on 24, while follow opener Dean made 17. Kylie Gault took both wickets for the Redbacks.

BOISDALE-Briagolong had the bye.

THE competition will pause for Melbourne Cup Day and resume November 12, with Rosedale-Kilmany heading to Maffra, Collegians hosting cross-town rival Longford and Boisdale-Briagolong hosting Bundalaguah. Maffra will have the bye.
