THE state government has opened applications for regional football and netball clubs to receive grants for sporting infrastructure.
Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence visited the home of the Barnawartha Tigers Football-Netball Club to announce applications for the latest round of the country football and netball program were now open.
Grants of up to $250,000 are available for regional and outer metropolitan councils to apply for grants for sports infrastructure developments including court lighting upgrades, changeroom overhauls, new pavilions and more, to benefit their local clubs and communities.
“Regional sports clubs and communities depend on their home ground facilities not only to host big games but to bring communities together, which is why we are focused on delivering quality sporting facilities across Victoria,” Ms Spence said.
Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien said he is encouraging local eligible clubs to work with councils to secure funding though this program.
“Applications for these grants are open to regional councils and I am urging our local clubs to contact their relevant council to discuss their needs and proposals,” Mr O’Brien said.
“This is a great opportunity for Gippsland South clubs who may be struggling to maintain and improve their facilities due to limited resources to put their hand up for some extra financial support.”
Mr O’Brien said he was more than happy to provide letters of support for any local clubs seeking funding through this grant stream.
Interested clubs can request a letter of support by emailing: danny.obrien@parliament.vic.gov.au
Applications close Monday, September 30, 2024.
