IT’S being touted as “the coolest comedy film fest in the known universe”, and it’s coming to Bond Street Event Centre next Friday, June 23.
Officially known as the Over the Fence Film Festival, the event is making a return to the Centre, which sees a collection of short films screened and then voted upon by audience members.
This year’s program promises to take viewers “on a journey through life to death … and beyond” with shorts from the United States, United Kingdom, Great Britain, France and New Zealand, as well as Australia.
Following a positive experience with previous iterations of the Festival, Bond Street Event Centre manager David Willington is looking forward to 2023’s selection of films.
“They’re really funny, a lot of the time; and they’re a mixed bag … each film could be completely different to the other one,” Mr Willington said.
“We do it for the fun of it, because we like the films … people enjoy it and so do we.”
Over the Fence is a Fremantle-based organisation that aims to “celebrate new and independent filmmakers, their comic masterpieces and their excellent sense of humour.”
It also boasts having “the largest traveling comedy film festival in Australia and the world.”
